What an AI fitness coach is actually good for

An AI coach will not spot your deadlift. What it can do is the tedious part of coaching: adjusting your plan every time life changes, and keeping count.

Updated October 2026

Things you can just say

"I'm in a hotel all week and only have 20 minutes."Switches to bodyweight sessions and shortens every workout. "I had a burrito and a latte for lunch."Estimates and logs the meal, then tells you what is left for the day. "Can we do four days a week instead of three?"Rebuilds the week around the new schedule. "How am I doing this week?"Answers with your actual sessions, streak and nutrition numbers.

Where it helps

Most plans fail on the first week that does not go to plan: a trip, a late meeting, a sore knee. A coach that rewrites the plan in one sentence keeps you training instead of starting over next Monday. It also removes the friction of logging, which is where most food tracking dies.

Where a human still wins

Form coaching, injury rehab and the motivation of someone expecting you at 7am. If you have pain, a medical condition or are pregnant, talk to a professional. A good AI coach will tell you the same.

Questions

Is an AI personal trainer worth it?

For planning, adjusting and tracking, yes, and it costs far less than a human trainer. For technique and rehab, a human is still better.

Can I talk to it by voice?

In FittyBitty, yes. Tap the microphone, speak, and the coach replies out loud.
