Photograph the menu. Get three dishes that fit your day.

A menu scanner for people who eat out and still want to hit their numbers.

Updated November 2026

What it does

You sit down, the menu has forty dishes and no numbers. Take a photo of it. FittyBitty reads every dish and picks three that fit what you have left to eat today, using the calories and protein from your own plan. Each pick comes with its rough calories, protein, carbs and fat, and one tip for ordering it lighter, like “ask for the peanut sauce on the side.” It also flags a few dishes to go easy on.

When the food comes, tap I ordered this and it is in your food log. No searching a database for “restaurant pad thai, large.”

How to use it

1Open the Coach tab and tap “What should I order?”
2Photograph the menu, or pick a photo of oneprinted menus and boards
3Read your three picks and the tip for eacha few seconds
4Tap “I ordered this”logged

A real example

On a Thai menu, with about 1,900 calories and 160 g of protein left for the day, the picks were:

PickEstimateThe tip
Chicken satay~520 kcal, 45 g proteinAsk for the peanut sauce on the side and use it sparingly.
Prawn ga-prao (basil stir-fry)~450 kcal, 30 g proteinSteamed rice on the side, and keep it to a half portion.

Curries made with a lot of coconut milk and the fried starters went in the “go easy” list. That is the same call a nutrition-minded friend would make. The app just makes it in five seconds with your numbers in mind.

How accurate is it? The numbers are estimates from the menu text, not from the kitchen. Portions and oil vary a lot between restaurants. Treat them as a guide for choosing, and check the menu yourself for allergens.

Where it helps most

Travel, work lunches, dinners out with friends: anywhere you would otherwise guess, or give up on the day. It works on any cuisine it can read, and best on menus with a short description under each dish. If you want the general rules for ordering out, see what to order when you are eating out.

Questions

Is there an app that tells you what to order at a restaurant?

Yes. FittyBitty for iPhone has a menu scanner: photograph the menu and it suggests three dishes that fit the calories and protein you have left today, with a tip for ordering each one lighter.

Does the menu scanner work on any restaurant?

It works on printed menus and menu boards it can read, in any cuisine. It needs a connection. It works best when dishes have a short description.

Is the menu scanner free?

Yes. Three photo scans a day are free, menus or meals. Coach Unlimited, an optional subscription, removes the limit.

Does it know about allergies?

No. The suggestions are for general wellness and the numbers are estimates. Always check allergens with the restaurant.

Next time you sit down, snap the menu.

FittyBitty picks three dishes that fit what you have left today, then logs the one you order. Free on iPhone, no account.
